Farming is more than planting, harvesting and selling great tasting local produce. It is a commitment to continual learning, improvement and creativity. And, some days, that includes thinking deeply about what it takes to bring safe food to your table.
I want to give a shout of appreciation to the farmers from across the Palouse (and as far away as Kuna, Idaho) who came together to learn more about best practices for growing and harvesting fresh produce with an extra eye on food safety. Thank you Johnson Cooperative, Victory Farm, Deep Roots Farm, WSU Organic Farm, Affinity Farm, Steury Orchards, Cabalo’s Orchard and Gardens, Pokey Creek Farm, Hatter Creek Orchards, Sexton Farms, A to Z Produce: Fruits & Vegetables, Farmer Phil, Crescent Arrow Farm and Green Fleece Farm!

To the University of Idaho Extension Educators and Idaho State Department of Agriculture who sponsored the training, a heartfelt thank you for your commitment to local food, farmers and the people of Idaho

Finally, no local food or farming workshop would be complete without great food from local businesses like Maialina Pizzeria Napolentana and the Moscow Food Co-op who purchase direct from our area farmers and ranchers.
